after so much hard work, for the entire year, COR is over.
finally have the time and energy to blog now. short breather before life sweeps us off our feet again.
COR '12: Pushing Limits, Stretching Horizons.
13-18 June.
Siem Reap, Cambodia.
13.
airasia flight was 11pm to mn to KL, then 6+-7+am (cos of time difference, actually the ride is 2 hours) to Siem Reap.
an early sign telling us that we would not be getting much sleep the next few days, i guess.
and honestly, the transit felt pretty long, considering that most places were closed.
spent the time in the foodcourt playing bang.
14.
reached bright and early (yes, it was super bright and early) for breakfast.
then set off for trekking!
the stairs were long and steep, but it was manageable, and we walked slowly so it wasn't really too taxing on us, though some people did have difficulty climbing up the mountain.
the view from up there was of tiny little houses and some fields, and there was a statue at the place we reached.
walked on to another restaurant where we had lunch.
lunch was quite cool, and very different from the meals i've had before. their meals are stronger in flavour, but not really to my taste.
the dessert was very sweet, some coconut sago with banana. and since many people didn't find it to their taste, they played fist games for it.
went to the campsite (which was actually sheltered) and unpacked.
a small container floating in an area enclosed by cement to hold water functioned as the flush, and there was pink toilet paper (lol).
same with the bathing area, it was just some (rattan? idk) sticks tied together to form high "walls" with shower curtains inside. it wasn't a very secure place to bathe, and the water was provided with a large bucket of water shared by everyone, similarly with a container floating inside.
dinner was bbq, which was, um, more luxurious than we expected.
their dessert was yummy! haha.
15.
woke up to a small buffet-style (but limited) breakfast at the same place.
then walked over to a nearby pri sch.
shovelled, chunkol-ed, and dug the soil to break it into smaller pieces and then spread them out evenly.
spent the rest of the afternoon planting grass. yes, grass.
this was probably one of the days i've worked so hard since the holidays started.
had bonfire that night. was quite fun what with all the performances and stuff.
but was too scared to try the crickets. eep.
had first htht night but went to sleep at 3+. too tired.
16.
woke up at like 5+ for cycling.
went 15 km through many big holes, uneven rocky ground, and deep sand that shifts under your bike while cycling. which made me consider the 40km. should i go?
ox cart ride was as expected, a slow bumpy ride. but looking at the poor ox i did pity them a little...
lunch was quite special, at this nice place (which didn't have a lot of protection when there is rain and strong winds hahaha). food was ok, but i enjoyed the company even more.
maybe i'm one of those they classified under "easy to kena".
amazing race was in tuk tuks and wasn't as tiring as i expected. diving, folding flowers, touching eels and random stuff, tasting different types of meat... all in a day's work. lucky to have my group. (i can't dive hahahhaa)
was really really tired that day, and by the time night came, coupled with the fact that i felt a little disappointed, ate very little for dinner.
the amok fish is famous, and i tried a little. then just kept eating veg and others.
went night market with most of ironman, walked around a little, and had more fun poking around.
i. need. to. learn. to. control. my. emotions. argh.
before all the conflicting feelings crash on me for no good reason.
17.
this is the day we went temple visiting!!
honestly didn't learn as much about angkor wat than i would have expected.
instead, spent the time walking around, "herding sheep", and taking photos.
which would have been pretty cool, actually.
i just wish i was less affected by some stuff.
the kids there may not have the chances to go to school cos their parents ask them to sell stuff, which makes me feel quite fortunate to have a chance to go. will mug harder in future.
lunch was at another place famous for its amok fish, but it wasn't as nice as the previous one we had.
angkor wat is quite a good photo place!
went back and had dinner before appreciation night.
i liked how they incorporated the theme of the camp with the performance.
some people then got picked to "save the chair" haha. entertaining max.
my group won the amazing race in the end! but the prize i passed to my friend cos it was more suitable for them.
htht-ed the entire night with palms and ate cup noodles.
pillow beatings! haha and photo formation (:
18.
went to wake our buddies up at 5, then packed and left the hotel.
took more photos (and got taken photos of while sleeping argh).
at the airport managed to squeeze in a few more sharing sessions.
the plane ride was quite interesting too. was supposed to have time to bond with someone i didn't get the chance to, who told me while we were climbing the stairs into the plane that the sharing wasn't what was planned, and that the plan was to say something else. guess i never found out afterward what that person wanted to say. ohwells /:
but my new seat (after repeated changing), was in front. napped a bit, talked a bit.
came back had dinner and went supposedly to kinect. ended up talking to them then going home to rest.
it felt very short. for a year's work.
and for all the angst, there were more than enough moments of others to cover.
i just wished i was better at managing my own thoughts and emotions.
ah heck. just take it as a 5 day dream ba.
hall discretionary admissions email was sent on 20, but i didn't get it.
but i'm not really upset also. lol.
went lunch at jp then kinect then meeting on 21.
sneaked out to go walk around canteens to source for caterers.
walked from north spine (wsc room) to hall 3 to can 13 to can 15 to can 11. then to hall 10 and can 9, through hall 8 to can 2 then can 1. walked back to can 16 and then can A. then to lt19a heh.
played till meeting time then had pizza in the wsc room.
had a meetup after the last erp on 22.
teoheng with bizmags and dawn and sw and gj. then zx joined for dinner hahaha.
really exhausted. shall sleep.

Been into emo things recently. lol.
watching can you hear my heart is not only touching and heartwarming, it also tugs at my heartstrings and sometimes i feel so sad for them.
anyway, saw this, pretty nice:

"What wouldn’t be incredible about being with someone so long, so intimately, that they know you better than you know yourself?"

camp preparation has been ongoing, and i feel more and more excited yet nervous at the same time...
going cycling tmr again at punggol! thinking it'll be a good idea to practise.
two more articles!
Felt this is beautiful, in the simplest way possible...
http://thoughtcatalog.com/2012/i-want-a-tuesday-kind-of-love/
"I want stories of strangers on the bus, of a child who looked lost but turned out not to be, of chance encounters with high school classmates because these seemingly colorless instances are meaningful when filtered through the eyes of someone I care about. A Tuesday kind of love, breathing relevance into otherwise monotonous moments.
A Tuesday kind of love is this: commuting to work knowing that someone cares about what you’re going to have for lunch; understanding that you do not have to be your dynamic, charming, weekend self this time; this time you can butcher sentences and make bad jokes and trip over thin air and it won’t change anything."
http://thoughtcatalog.com/2012/three-cheers-for-boring-love/
"But sometimes it’s hard not to miss the attention paid to the little, unglamorous acts of love that make up a true partnership."
wow. tired. shall sleep early tonight too. been really drained recently...
